I think it was on Monday that Dad and I drove to Volcano National Park and went to the end of Chain of Craters Road. We had hoped to be able to see red hot lava. No lava was visible from any place we were able to go, as it was flowing through tubes right into the ocean. What we did see were these huge clouds of steam. They would vary in intensity considerably as we hiked around. At times, the steam would almost disappear and then return con mucho gusto.
